Outside The Office
“Time is really the only capital that any human being has, and the only thing he can’t afford to lose.”
—Thomas Edison

Running, Snowboarding, Golfing, Sailing
Running and exercising is an area of meditation for me that has turned into a inner competition. All the sports I participate in, 'mother nature' can change the game at any point. I feed off this chaos and push harder with more energy. Currently I'm part of the Four Season Challenge 2024 in Rochester, NY. Ran my first half in October in honor of brother...many more to come!

“A nation that destroys its soils destroys itself. Forests are the lungs of our land, purifying the air and giving fresh strength to our people.”
- Franklin D. Roosevelt

While following my path I have travelled to seven different countries and...
Witnessed the northern lights in the artic circle from a hot tub...
Looked in awe at engineering marvels in Greece...
Visited my heritage in Germany...
Rode mopeds in Nassau...
Jumped off 80 foot cliffs into water...
Went zip lining in Mexico...
Went from sea level to 13,700 feet in two hours...
Canoed multiple 75 mile treks...

....and so much more!

What does an engineer do when he has a project house?...He does not sit still when home. The same drive I have in the workplace is amplified when I have the opportunity to work on my house.
Where did I learn all this...it wasn't overnight, well it was in some ways. When I came back to Rochester for graduate school, sleep was not big on my radar. After wrapping up class we would find some project at a friends house and go to town...bathrooms, foundations, kitchens and more!

Cooking has been part of my life since I was a teenager. I learned how to cook on the backpacking trail before the kitchen. It was fun on the trail because it was a resource puzzle to solve with only having what was on your back or you had to make it. When going camping with the guys I'm typically the guide and get to plan the meals...they like it that way. Eggs benny, pizza, chicken wings, cakes...I spoil them a little and love every minute of it.

In my spare time I have been working towards a passion I want to continue in my 'retirement'. My Opa (german grandfather) was a master cabinet maker and I have the same itch to build. I have made a few furniture pieces but my goal is to make 'puzzle furniture' with refurbished materials (i.e. barn wood, pallets etc.). This combines my 3D printing, carpentry and puzzle solving into one.

Dog Whisperer
My furry partners in crime...
Dogs and I have a special bond. Throughout my professional career, dogs have been there at the end of the day to get me to the next. Jake, Opie, Tigger and now Ramsey, all very different personalities but all push me to be a better man and caregiver. Communication is the most important characteristic of a strong relationship. I'm lucky to have this bond with these furry trouble makers.
